Bread (formerly Bread Wallet) is a decentralized, financial services and cryptocurrency storage platform that aims for maximum simplicity and security to safely accelerate mainstream adoption of digital assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The Bread team believes that cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin present three fundamental problems that hamstring adoption. Cryptocurrencies are not easy to use; cryptocurrencies are not widely accepted as payment and managing multiple coins is difficult; banks rarely if ever offer digital asset storage solutions. Bread aims to fix these problems by becoming one of the first truly decentralized financial institutions.
Bread's wallet maintains custody over no assets owned by its users, instead interfacing directly with a given asset's blockchain to enable customers to securely store their own coins and tokens. Moreover, the Bread team intends for their own servers to eventually not be required for the wallet service to continue functioning with users having continued full access to the platform's services. Bread implements a freemium model build around incentives from the wallet's native token that ensures storage solutions for Bitcoin and Ethereum will always remain free, with other services available for a fee. These services and other in-app perks are supported by the Bread token that customers can earn via in-app activities, receive via automatic airdrops, or collect through social media give-aways.
